Merc 65hp lower units interchangeable?

I'm looking to replace my '76 65hp 3 cylinder motor w/ jet pump. Can I put the jet pump on a 4 cylinder '72 65hp? Are the lower units interchangeable?

No. Triples have a unique gearcase.

The last year for the 4 cylinder 65 was 1971. In 72 the 3 cylinder was introduced.
