Well...it took some doin, but, I finally got the prop off this little old Mercury. A little heat-gun action and a modified auto gear-puller was the ticket. I cut away the rubber hub once it was exposed, but I'm left with a question....Is there some sort of "collar or something inside the rubber hub itself?? I can't seem to tell where the "hub" ends and the shaft begins. Do the grooves on the shaft run the entire length of the shaft?? If so...it looks like whats left is another hard plastic or aluminum collar inside the rubber hub sealed to the shaft.....ow do I get that off?? Any help or direction would be appreciated. thanks.

Thats the inner portian of the hub, try heat from a torch the heat gun is to slow and sometimes bucking the shaft up and pounding on the inner hub will expand it away from the shaft.

I have also split it off length wise with a wood chisel tapping with a small hammer. Lots of liquid wrench or PB blaster helps too. The trick is to get a groove started in the stuck on sleeve with a hacksaw blade. Then chase the groove with the wood chisel.
