Merc 75 bleed line question

I have a '75 Mercury 75 that has a crankcase bleed line with cracks in it. I haven't actually had the motor on a boat yet, but the brief time it was running in a barrel, I did not notice any leakage, or other indication that the tubing was cracked through.
Current parts lists show that the tubing was was a $37 part, now discontinued, and appears to be replaced by Tubing - 20'. Is this a proprietary pressurized tube, or can I replace it with plastic tubing from a hardware store? Is there a trick to getting the tube and clamps off the fittings, as they look seamless?
Any info appreciated.

Re: Merc 75 bleed line question

Hi,

Merc does not sell the short hose anymore. So stop at a dealer and buy the length you need from them or get an oil resistant hose from somewhere and put it on.
The clamps should have a split on them.
