Merc 8.5hp - hard to start

A friend of mine has problem to start his moteur. The engin slept for the last 10 years.

Now He has to drop some fuel in the carb to make it start. What do you think is the problem on this engin?

Could it be a choke problem, fuel line, primer bulb???

Also, is 8.5 Merc a mistake cause I can't find it in the ''what year is my motor?'' section.

Most likely needs a carb rebuild. Chances are it's gummed up inside preventing the fuel pump in the carb from working properly.
