Merc 900

I am buying a boat that has a late 70's Merc 900 on it. I have a 1972 15' Venture bass boat. Will this motor be to heavy to hang on my boat. I have a stress plate and the boat has a Merc 500 on it right now. I just do not want my motor to fall off in the water. Thanks

The 900 is an inline six, weighing 300#. Whether your boat can handle it is beyond my ability to guess. What is your boat rated for as max HP? if 90HP is within it's rating you are good to go.

BTW - 15 footers usually max out at 50-65HP max.

That is what I was thinking too. I just needed to hear it from someone else to get it in my head that it is to big of a motor for my boat. Thanks Chris
