what is the pin hole located near the nose cone for?

the speedometer pitot is located near the outdrive. I am trying to identify a tiny pinhole in the outdrive on the side of housing near the bottom near the nose cone.

I think it's to let any residual water from the drive when you pull it out of the water {winter]J.

It's a built in 'pilot' in the motor, mnmarineman is right

if speedometer is not working good...could this be the cause? Thge other pickup is okay

tysick, when you say "the speedometer pitot is located near the outdrive" are you talking about an add-on speedometer pitot that bolts onto the transom? I know some of the alpha ones have a built in pitot for the speedometer, and some do not. (Mine doesn't).

MINE SEEMS TO BE AN ADD ON BOLTED TO TRANSOM with the tube to the guage

could this be the drain for shift shaft cavity?
