Merc Alpha Neutral Switch Question

I'm having a stalling problem when I shift. I've been told that there is a "stall" switch which assists with shifting by temporarily / quickly stalling the motor to help facilitate the shift.

My question is if this switch can be adjusted or if I need to replace it.

Thanks!

Ayuh,... The Shift Switch is Fine,... It's Working,..
It's Stalling because the Lower Shift Cable is dragging,+ needs Replacement...

The shift cable can require adjusting. Did this just begin happening out of the blue or has it happening once in a while and just gotten worse? Need more background, but Bond-O's guess is the leading cause of the problem.

Disconnect the lower cable from the shift plate and see if it is easy to slide, if not, replace. And by easy, I mean really easy, as it needs to slide without putting more than a pound or two of pressure on that shift plate.
