Re: merc elpto 125 hesitation

I'd do a decarb (archives) and then retest.

I had a similar problem. Depending on the load on the engine and temperature, I could get hesitation on an '02 90 hp 3 cyl on punching out of the hole (point of maximum load on the engine). After the decarb had thoroughly been absorbed, so that I knew it had done all that it could, I opened the low speed jets (only one adjustable) 1/4 turn, same on each carb and the extra fuel stopped the problem. May take a little more or less to get it right. Just enough to get the desired result, I'd think.

Carb idle jet adjustments are going to be in the neighborhood of 1-1/4 turns out, +/- 1/8.

There's an accelerator pump to aid in acceleration. It shoots a little extra gas in the lower two cylinders which don't fire at low RPMs. If the throttle is babied, it doesn't pump. It needs a fairly decisive hammer-down to work.
