I have been pulling lower units apart for years and have occasionally run into this problem and can't find a fix and there might not be one. There are 2 differant size bearings. The large bearing fits certain gearsets and small bearings fit others. Everything else appears the same. I have a nice set of internals with a small fwd bearing and a nice case with a large race. Some one once told me that mercury had a small bearing that had an oversized race for this application but I have not seen it. Has anyone got any info?
