Mercury is making some changes to its Props, New Hub system that is not compatible with the current Flow-Torq. It looks like Cost of Production Reduction. but there will still be an increase on the MSLP. Also it might be a Move to make the Hub Propriety

They are also going to be balancing the Props the same way Car/Truck Wheels-Tires are Balanced, by attaching Weights to the Prop

I'm not big on name brands. I shop for value. For my little boat Solas and Michigan Wheel work fine. I've also gone back to pressed in hubs. I've got a few knock out hubs that don't seem interchange among brands. MOD EDIT - This a prop thread.

Merc insists that the Glue will not let go(Famous Last Words), that they are Dynamically Balancing the Props, but a Prop Repair Shop can Static Balance a Repaired Prop. I know the current Lines of Props are being Discontinued.

Weights on car wheels are clipped on to the edge of the rim. Polaris has been using epoxy to build there sleds for years already. I don't see a problem with what they are doing because car drive shafts have had the weights epoxied onto them for yrs. I think they will be fine and does this mean the Enertia will be discontinued? I gotta say never hearing about that prop again is not the worst thing.

I don't know. I found out about it, looking at a computer screen at the parts counter at the dealership, I think the new Version(s) were to be coming out next week

Maybe at the Miami boat show? Vendors/suppliers often use large shows to annouce new products.

Myself I think it is just a way to speed up the Production Line by reducing the time grinding and retest of balance. Though I will admit it will permit the Blades to remain as cast without removal of Metal which might inadvertently change its Efficiency, almost always for Worse

MOD EDIT - This a prop thread.

Going to be interesting to see how they can do a stick-on weight system without affecting hydrodynamics.

That's about the only to keep weights in place. Wonder if it takes more weight being close the center instead of a blade tip, not that a tip weight could be used.

Weights for Vehicle Wheels-Tires are mounted a long way from the Tread( at least on two of my cars that use tires with a 70 or 75 profile. The car with the Kidney Damaging Ride has 50 series, so there the weights are closer to the Tread. Then again Tires, generally are only spinning about 700 - 900 rpm at 65 mph, props spin 3 to 4 times faster
