Honestly -- OMC had quite a time trying to convince US dealers how to rig a V8. It's nothing like a V6. The transom heights are different, the lower units are longer and act different and the rpm band is different. <br /><br />OMC quit selling them in the US, except for the military version, but they were quite popular overseas for several more years. Finally the sales numbers overseas didnt justify the production numbers. They then came up with the 250 V6 and stuck with that in a couple of versions.
