merc motor swap

i was helping a friend over the weekend with his recently acquired boat. he has a 2000 tahoe, with an alpha 1 gen 2 drive. the original motor is blown, so he had purchased a 1987 3,0 Mercrusier 120 4 cyl Model MCM120 motor. Not sure the exact model of the blown motor, other than it was a mercruiser 4 cylinder.

Here's my question. The 87 was for a Alpha 1 gen 1. Will this motor work with a Gen 2 drive?

Ayuh,... You should be able to mix, 'n match enough parts from the old, 'n new to make it fit, Yes...
