Merc OptiMax 135 Oil pump Delivery Problem

I have an 1998 Merc 135 OptiMax DFI and the oil pump stops working after 3 -4 pumps right after the engine is started. I have traced the wires back to the control module and the wires are good. I get 12 - 13 volts on the red wire but the Blue/Black wire goes dead in 2-3 seconds. any ideas of where the problem is at? The pump does seem to work but it seems I loose power to it.

Any help out there Please.

Hey Cap'n
I'm no expert but after all of the failures in the new oil injection engines, I will never trust this system! Do like I do all of my new engines....disconnect all of the injection circuitry etc and mix the oil and fuel manually, in the tank. :)

Please post model and serial # so that we can look up info.

I don't remember a 12V Oil Pump.

Merc has used a red 12V wire to power a Fuel pump and the controller switches the ground on/off.

Generally Merc oil pumps are crank driven with a rotation sensor on the end, the oil warning module compares this sensor pulse to an ignition coil pulse to trigger an alarm if there is a difference in the two signals. DFI may monitor this system and vary fuel pressure to a 'limp home' level.

Posting model and serial will reveil specific details for your motor.
