Good morning, hope everyone is having a good 4th weekend. I have an opportunity to acquire a pontoon boat. 19's leisure island.any value in this toon?It has an old Chrysler 25 outboard on it now that constantly has issues. The owner picked up a merc 35 hp outboard,s# 6492172 1984 vintage,to replace the chrysler. Never got around to setting it up,so he bought a different toon ready to go. He wants to sell me his old toon, with both motors for $1.500. Now the merc looks to be in real nice condition, hasn't been run in 5 years but everything looks to be great as far as visual inspection can tell. It comes with all the controlls/cables/harness ect. Even though mercs aren't my first choice,I can repair them with no problem. I mostly would like to know if there are any known issues with these motors that I should know about. I haven't checked compression, but it feels good when spun over and has spark. Also does anyone have a value of a fairly good old merc of 1984 vintage? The toon itself needs the common junk, deck carpet seating ect. Toons are good no leaks, dents. Does anyone have a pdf for this motor? Thank's for any info.

Hi there grub, unfortunately since the software change over, iboats seems to have a very reduced number of older loyal forum members that were really good at answering questions such as these.:( Hopefully it will pick back up as things get better with the forum software over time. Sorry fort the delay. Your engine comes up as an MERCURY - ( 35 H.P. (1984) Serial No: 06492172 Model No: 1035524 Catalog No: 90-43116. I believe you may be able to download the service manual in the following link.

......
Your parts catalog can be found in here if needed. http://www.crowleymarine.com/search_results.html?string=06492172

Also I'm going to move your question up to "non outboard repair discussions" in hopes to find a helpful answer for you. Hope this helps, Good luck.:)
