I recently purchased a 1986 Merc 115 outboard. Along with it came a jet unit that was previously installed on the motor. They guy I purchased the motor from didn't like the jet and had a new lower unit installed. The jet unit seems to be in good shape. Does anyone have any idea what its worth and where would a guy sell the thing? Thanks

The key to what its worth would be what years and hp motors it will bolt onto. The more it will fit, the higher the value. <br />ebay or online classifieds for boats would be the place to sell it.

A jet lower unit runs around $1500 new, just FYI. Of course, a used one isn't worth that much, but could push $1K if it's in great shape. Another significant factor is the type and condition of impellor - stainless, like with props, is significantly more expensive than aluminum. Bottom line, you'll have to see what similar units are selling for by checking local want ads, boat shops, or ebay.
