It seems that trying to find prop specs for a given Merc prop number must be a national secret. I have searched the net for 4 days and still haven't turned up a useful source yet.
Does anyone know of such a list and where to locate it?

Your Mercruiser dealer has a book with the P/N size cross reference in it.

I typed the part # in google. After about 3 minutes of going through the results, I was able to figure out the prop specs.

Some online retailers list Merc part #'s along with prop specs. This may be fine for a one time look-up but I would not want to do it often. As Don said, your best source would be a Mercruiser dealer.

Re: Merc props

My nearest Mercruiser dealer is 3 hours away. I am trying to get a couple of cheap e-bay auctions to try different prop pitches, but most of the sellers are listing prop part numbers. I am finding that diameters are a feature as well as pitch that I want to watch out for.

Forget about the Diameter.............

You have No Control over it....
Diameter is a factor in Blade Design......
Pitch is What you should be concerned with....
Some Engineer, somewhere has Already figured out What Diameter is Needed to work with whatever blade design that particular prop has.....

Re: Merc props

Well, I found diameter does matter because some Mercury outboard props fit Mercruiser I/Os. I bought a 21p prop off e-bay and the diameter is ~13 inches. The prop hub is nearly 1/4 inch diameter smaller than the prop I am using. I put the 21p prop on and I was making it slip at 2400 rpm. If I could get a list of Merc prop numbers and specs, I could tell before I buy if this will be a problem. Is there anyway to decifer the code?

Cavitating the prop. The exhaust is able to get around the outside of the hub and into the blades.

Re: Merc props

that was not the diameter BONDO was talkng about he was refering to the total dia of the prop blades it sounds like that prop as for a smaller diameter gear case

it is the down side of buying used parts some times you win some times not

tommays
