Forgive my ignorance but is this the fuel pump to the left of the carb? I think it is. I think I need a rebuild kit for this but the iboats store says from a certain serial number and above. My serial number is below that. How does one find a kit for this and the carb if the serial number is before what is listed? By the way it is a 1968 9.8 serial #2471766. Thanks

That is the fuel pump but the diaphram kit is not offered aftermarket for this model. You will need to order from Boats.net or a Merc dealer, the part # is 53245A1

That picture looks familiar. I wish my throttle adjustment plate had a bolt head on it instead of a flat screw driver head. Damn thats a pain to get to with the flywheel on!

Thanks Faztbullet for the info. I went and picked one up locally only to find out he gave me the wrong one. Found that out when I got home. I have one other question, can you tell by the picture what carb that is and what carb kit # would be needed to go through it? Thanks again.

You can get that kit here at iBoats if in stock, the part # is 18-7013 and it has new needle and seat.

One more question for you. Is there supposed to be something (air intake) on the front of the carb? This motor has nothing there and I would think there would be some sort of protection to there for water and such. Any thoughts?
