Merc Questions from a NewB

Howdy all,

I'm new to this forum, and have a few questions. I am looking at purchasing a used 45 to 50 hp Merc. I would like to know which, if any of these, have oil injection. I also have seen an external pump with some of these older engines and wondered about its' purpose. Lastly, what is an 80 to 90 45 or 50 hp, 4 cyl., tilt/trim engine worth?

Personally I like the older Merc's... 60s and 70s 4 cylinders. Easy to work on and solid as a rock. I bought my whole boat, motor, and trailer for $750. Probably could find an older Merc 50HP with electronic ignition (no power trim though most likely)... for a couple hundred my guess.
