My motor is out, and I dont not have a drain plug on the oil pan.
And while removing the dipstick, I damaged the tube...

So for the same amount I figure why not make it a little easier to do oil changes and get back to a gravity drain system vs the suction system thru the diptstick.

So I buy one of these...
MERCRUISER QUICK OIL DRAIN KIT 4.3L 32-865278A02

Kill two birds with one stone....

until I over tightened the brass banjo bolt and broke it....Can I get just the replacement banjo bolt?

If not, I'm just going the sh!tcan the quick drain system and make a dipstick outta fuel line.

Thoughts?

could help, dunno...

as for the dip stick oil siphon. i prefer to do it that way. to ea. his own though.

don't know about the dip stick tube R&R. salvage yard. oem mercruiser dealer, ebay... ???

edit. another thought. since it's a mercruiser oil drain. maybe the dealer has them parts too. like the bolt only?

the replace part is the whole hose and piece i broke.

cost more than I paid for the kit.

I'm not thinking this will be possible...I'm figuring on having to make a dip stick tube. Plus it'll be the most cost effective.

Still kinda pissed about breaking that dang bolt.

Mercruiser dip stick tubes are really GM automotive tubes. You can probably get one at an auto wrecker for $5 or so. If not, try a GM dealer. I also suggest you lay off the exercises. You're too strong to work on engines! Seriously, though, bolts don't have to be that tight to stay in place. Good luck. Hy

No they aren't, not even close. They are Mercruiser specific parts, with Merc specific dipsticks for different applications. look at the manuals.

yeah this is definitely a Merc part....
that fits into a merc oil pan.

no drain plug and the dip stick enters right at the lowest level from the side of the pan.
