I can get a new in crate 1999 150 optimax for $6500 from a local guy, or a new 2002 150 XR6 for $6,899 plus shipping from Ed's. I know the Xr6 will hook up to my existing 1995 controls. But I have heard the Opti needs extra stuff to make it work. Anyone know what I need to buy to make the opti work? And how much it would cost? Or just buy the XR6 and be done with it?

Re: merc repower--opti or xr6?

Chum, I am still waiting on a shipping quote from Ed's. I actually have $ on one here at the local bass pro shop for $7350 plus tax, but they screwed me on the rigging-boat has been there a week and there saying another week--no way--not during prime walleye fishing! I am getting my boat back tomarrow! They sold the one last--one I was supposed to have--now I am stuck with the floor model. And they can't even get me that one--some excuse about needing a picker to get it off the wall display!! I was very hot under the collar today! I am calling one more time tomarrow to talk to the manager--saying look I'll bring my rather large buddy and you get two of your fat ass salesmen, and we will load the damn thing in my truck--so I can get on the water this weekend!! Ok, done venting! Seems spending almost 8 grand cash around here does not get you much service!! Only reason I took my boat there was they said for the warrenty even if I rig it they need to check it out--so I figure why make two trips--and they said it would take three days! Which I knew was bogus because I could do it in two hours max!! Ok, calm down!
