Merc. Service Manual

Hey guys, I have a 1998 Sea Ray 190 with a Merc 4.3L EFI and Alpha 1 drive and I want to get a owners/service manual so I can do some of the preventative stuff. Which manual do I need?

You're right at that change year from 97 to 98 in the Mercruiser manuals. If you have your serial number for the engine handy, I can tell you what Merc manual you need. As far as the drive goes, it's #14 PN 90-818177--3

Don't even waste your time with the aftermarket manuals, just way too generic.

Edit: Hey Don I was just looking at that PDF manual and on page 3 it says that my drive serial # (0L135269) is a 2.0 to 1 but the tag on the drive says 1.81R to 1. It also looks like my transom (0L248762) isn't even covered. What gives?

You need service manual #25, PN 90-861328-1

I think you are misreading it. Your 1.81 is covered the manual says 0F691500 and Above. The Above being the key word. Same the the transom assembly.
Besides that, there is only one Alpha I Gen II manual.

Thanks for the info on the engine manual

To me it looks like my SN would fall in the 2.0 catagory, but I do see what you are saying (0L is above 0F). The chart does seem a little misleading.
