Merc Stator for my 20hp

I would like to know if anyone could tell me if a stator from a 1997 25hp Merc Mariner would fit on my 1987 20hp Merc.<br /><br />I am trying to put an electric start kit on my 1987 20hp merc motor. If anyone has some of the required parts to do this conversion please send me your details.

If you check an online parts catalog, you could tell if the parts are the same or similar.

there are 2 different stators for those 2 yr models...get ur serial numbers and send this guy a e-mail KandJmarine@aol.com he can prob help ya out...
