my distributor went out on me. so i took it to a mechanic, whom tore it apart and said it would be 850 to buy and install a new one. so i left and bought one on the internet for 50$. i have it in place the plugs are on, everything is ready except for the three wires that attach to lugs somewhere. and since he tore everything out, i don't know where they are suppose to go. if someone has a similar motor who can take a pic and post it, that would be awesome. I appreciate your help

i have a 1974' 50 hp but no way to post pics where are the wires coming from and what color ?

Get on the maxrules.com website and find the electrical schematic for that motor. The distributor is connected to the switchbox. The color codes should match up.

Did you get a distributor that is compatable with your ign system?

thanks guys, i found out where they went. it was on the other side of the motor. the lugs were marked red, blue, white. Fired it up and ran great.
