last time out when leaving the harbor my merc out drive slipped into nuetral. now it wont go into forward gear, only reverse. any suggesttions?<br /><br />Thanks for the help.last
could be the control not moveing the cable in fowrard<br /><br />you can look at the cables were they meet at the shift interupt switch by the engine and be sure both cables are moveing in forward and reverse.<br /><br /><br />tommays
1978 454 olds, I think it's a pre-alpha. Checked the cables & linkage, it all works. Could the trim have something to do with it, if the outdrive is going to low?<br /><br />Thanks for the help
I had this problem once. I had to back up all the way to the boat ramp (2 miles). The safty wire on the set screw that attaches the shift link to lower end of shift cable had been left off. It would pull the drive into reverse but wouldn't push it into neutral or forward.
