I have received a two barrel Mercarb, disassembled in a bucket that an acquaintance desires to be rebuilt.

The carb is off an ?85 Wellcraft with the 3.7 (470) four cylinder.

The carb is a Mercarb two barrel #13898489 4Y03.

The kit I have is a NAPA # 18-7097 (replaces 3302-9437)

My concern(s):
The kit, as well as the disassembled carb, has two ball check valves.....one steel and the other aluminum. Which goes where???

The check ball beneath the accelerator pump?s supply screen, I believe should be the steel as the check ball beneath the ventrui cluster is spring loaded and would probably be the aluminum.

Any assistance will be appreciated (and NO, I?m not about to tear MY 470 apart to compare!!)

Thanks to all.

There's no mention of the ball material in my manual, but that mercarb is basically a rochester 2GC. The 2GC sometimes used an alloy check ball for the pump discharge under the venturi assembly.
