I keep my boat slipped in saltwater and most years need to replace anodes about 2/3 of the way through the 6 month season we get in the northeast. Thinking about installing a mercathode system but don't see much info out there for use on 3.0/Alpha (gen 2) drive systems. Is it even possible? Is it worthwhile? Looking for opinions. Thanks.

Your drive needs all the help it can have fending off the galvanic corrosion. The MC will produce a opposing field current to reduce GC. Now if you boat is not plugged into shore power then I wouldn't bother, but if it is I would

Do you have corrosion issues currently ? If not I’d stay with what you got. Mercathode is easy enough to add and doesn’t cost much $200 or so

You are still going to need the anodes in salt water. Install the Mercathode, if you like, but plan on doing the anodes anyway.
