On my Operation and Maintenance Manual they are taking about Optional Mercathode System that can be install.

I have twin 1989 Merc 4.3LX s/n OC534197 & OC454332 with Alpha One Stearn Drives s/n OF162054 & OF162055.

If I have Mercathode System install, Were would it be located on the Engine ?
My boat is Pluged In (120V/30amps) all Summer at the Marina and want to make sure if I have a Mercathode System installed that it is
working properly on both engines.
Thank You

You should see a blue box on the front of one or both of the motors, with several wires exiting from the bottom. It should be labeled as MerCathode. The business end of the MerCathode is a fitting that replaces the zinc anode on the bottom of the swivel bracket of the sterndrive. It will have a crinkled platinum wire in the center of it. It kinda looks like a std zinc anode, but is obviously an active electrical component. I would think you would have one on each engine, but not positive.

Mine is in a box on top of the engine that has the serial numbers on it. I don't think a lot of Alphas came with it.
