MercCruiser 3.0L Wet spark Plug Cylinder 4The

Hi;

The engine is hard to start and RPMs vary 200 to 300 RPMs when running, found SP wet.
I have a fresh water kit on the engine, any suggested would be appreciated

Assuming it's wet with water, check the gasket surfaces and gasket on the exhaust elbow and manifold.

Thanks for the reply, it is water. the fact that I have a closed Fresh water cooling kit says I shouldn't have Salt water running thru the manifold. Would that be correct ?

Typically the manifold would be antifreeze cooled too, but would have to see the engine to know for sure, but, the elbow (aka riser) is always raw water cooled. If it's surface is destroyed, then it alone could cause your problem.
