Good morning everyone! We have a 2013 Tahoe Q5 which has the 4.3 MPI ECT engine in it and really have had nothing but problems with it from the start. All the problems revolved around the water pressure reading either too low and then eventually too high and setting a code in Guardian, according to the Mercruiser tech.

I finally got tired of paying for them to hookup up computer and tell me what code the Guardian system was mad about this time and guessing what my operating parameters were, so I installed the SmartCraft Vessel View Mobile module and I'm trying to determine what's normal for a few of the readings.

First off I know I could have purchased the Rinda Scan Tool software and had a better diagnostic tool but got this from a friend at half price so I went this route for now. We test ran the boat yesterday and on the water pressure we saw 11.2 to 11.9 at WOT (4500 rpms) at around 45 mph. Engine cooling temperature was running 155 or so on vessel view but the weird thing is that the analog gauge on the dash showed 167 or so.

Am I correct in thinking that the readings I am getting from the vesselview module are far more accurate than the gauges on the dash? I do not have a water pressure gauge on the dash, but isn't 11-12 psi at WOT too low? I thought I remember reading years back that it should be somewhere around 18 psi, right?

Anyways, thanks for reading and hopefully some of you can find time to lend your knowledge. Thanks!

The temp being displayed by VV is no more accurate then the sender providing the information to the PCM. If the sender is off, then so will the reading. Use an IR temp gun and measure the temp at the thermostat housing and compare.

Unable to say what the pressure would be at the location but the block pressure should be 20 to 30 psi at WOT. Looking over 10 would have me saying your not bad but could do better, maybe. How old is the impeller?
