mercontrol box/ throttle

Hello I have a 89 mercury 20 HP outboard. I have a mercury 85 HP outboard and an extra mercontrol box that came with the 85hp. I tried to use the mercontrol box for the 20 hp but the throttle cable move in the wrong direction....can u reverse the direction of the cables in the control box

I guess what I'm asking is can u change the direction the the control cables move. The 85hp motor the carb was one right (which the cables had to pull on the carb linkage for it to give it throttle. On the 20hp the carb is on the left ( which I need the cables to push on the carb. Linkage. I need the cables to go in the opposite direction. Does anyone know if u can change the direction the cables move inside a mercontrol box. Or do I need a differant kind of control box and if so which kind do I need....thanks
