Hey guys... This is my first post here, and I want to start off by saying thanks for all the help I recieved without even posting until now.

My buddy recently purchased a Mercury Thunderbolt 1150 with an Mercontrol unit similar to the one in the photo below. I need to replace the neutral safety switch but was told that the switch is no longer available and I would need to find another option that would bolt in. I was directed to McMaster.com for a switch that may work, seen HERE. The switches in this link have 1" center to center holes for mounting and I'm not sure what the mounting holes are on the Mercontrol unit. The boat is 3-4 hours away and I'm hoping I can take a switch that will work up there with me this weekend.

Does anybody happen to know any specs for the stock switch so I can find/pick a sutable replacement.

Any information outside the bolt pattern would be very helpfull as well.

The switch listed on Mcmasters website #7090K38 is the one I was leaning too.

Rick;

This switch, item 52 in the link should work for you.

Gerry

Thanks for your response Gerry.

I'm really hoping that I will be able to find something either at a local shop here in Southern California or a bolt in alternative from a non-boating source like McMaster Carr just so I will be able to buy and install this Friday.

If that can't happen though... I'm glad you where able to provide me with a usable part number for the correct switch.

Thanks again,

Rick

Rick, If you trust yourself to only start the motor in neutral, you can bypass the old switch, until the new one comes in. No need to miss a boating day, just don't mess up.

For sure Chris... This boat actually needs a little more than just the switch before it will run, I just love boat projects and can't wait to do anything, moving forward, with it. We also will be redoing the wiring on the motor itself this weekend as they are in bad shape then move forward if needed on our main issue right now, no spark.
