mercontroller idle lever moves with throttle

I am having a problem with my mercontroller. When i mover the throttle forward the warm up lever lifts up when i move to forward gear. If i hold down on the warm up lever and try to go forward it stalls out. If i let it come up as i move forward then push down on warm up lever it seems ok. Does anybody know what is going on with it

the warm up lever shold lock down, stalling putting into gear sounds like the idle is too low. you may need to adjust the throttle cable on engine.

What do you think is causing the idle arm to move up with the throttle control?

hey..
jacob up on top is having the same problum..i bet somthing is broke inside..like tashasdaddy said it should lock down..i bet the shifter has been played with by kids or somthing and somthing inside got broke or loose..this weekend when it warms up im gonna untarp my boat and i will take a look at mine and see if there is anything that i can add..
