Mercruise 3.7 Misfire

not your typical misfire...or so i think.

engine ran fine when I first go the boat except for a crappy carb. Turns out the carb was beyone rebuilding capabilites and I had a new one installed by a mechanic. I get the boat back and head out on the water to find I have an engine mis, most notable at part and full throttle. WTF? Fuel delivery should not be the issue here. Iginitoin was working fine before...checked timing and that's fine. Any ideas? Maybe just old wires and dist. stuff(cap/rotor/points)???

Any help where to start is much appreciated.

When was the last full tuneup? Should be done yearly, and also do a compression check.
IF the old carb was so bad that it had to be replaced, it probably masked other problems.
