I have a 78 glastron that i have been going through. It came with all service records since new. The bellows where replaced a few years back, and seem to be solid, except the shift cable bellows which is in bad shape.

Is it possible to replace without removing the drive?

Nope, you not only have to remove the drive, but you have to remove the shift cable.

Besides that, removing the drive is very easy. Put the shifter in Fwd. Remove the aft trim cylinder pin, and remove 6 nuts holding the drive on.
Should slide right off.

bummer, I was hoping i could undue the cable at the drive, pull it back into the hull and replace the bellows.

How heavy is the drive, is removing it a two man job?

IIRC, you also need an alignment tool to reinstall corectly?

How much flood risk is there if the boat was used with a bad shift bellows?

I just got the boat and would like to give it a shakedown run before the end of the season
