Hello Boating Friends,
My mechanic did some work on my 1972 Starcraft Starchief and one of the items he replaced was a shift cable. My Seloc manual states that "from the centerline of the brass barrel to the center line of the cable end guide mounting hole, the measurement MUST be 5 7/8 inches". I have adjusted the brass barrel until there is no threads left and the measurement is a little over 6 inches. My question is can anyone help me with the OEM part number for that shift cable and maybe where I can find the original part.
Thanks for any and all replies.

what shift cable was installed, if it was the newer aft entry it should be good. If your mechanic installed it he should have adjusted it to work correctly/

I passed the information from my manual to him. He was stumped and called the company he got the cable from. He was told the lower shift cable was made for two applications. One of the applications, which is mine, requires the cable to be cut or shortened. Now I'm on 12 hour days and he is gone on vacation. Guess I'm in a holding pattern for now but will study this closely when I can.

Should have installed the newest cable being used on the Alpha1 GEN II ,aft entry. no cutting required
The old style cable threads in from the front of the housing and requires it to be cut to size. the newer cable with aft entry requires no cutting.. Do you have the part number that was used

Thanks Bt Doctur.
I did the trim work on the lower shift cable and was able to adjust it for smooth shifting.
