I have a 120HP mercruiser Drive Serial number 0D328356 and Transom Serial number 0C846856 and have a cold start issue.
I did the following work to the engine.
- Carb rebuild as per manual no.10
- Replaced distributor cap, rotor, points and condenser.
- Set points and confirmed dwell at 34 Deg.
- Checked Timing and found it was 9 Deg. at 700rpm. Set to 8 Deg.
- Oil & filter changed before launch.
- New spark plugs.
This boat has a single lever control which means I have no throttle control without being in gear.
My current start procedure is a single pump to WOT and then crank. It will have to be cranked at least 5 times to start.
Other issues that might be connected:
- WOT is 4100 (I have to confirm prop size/pitch this weekend)
- Slight hesitation when throttling up.
- Boat shakes when between 2500 and 3500 rpm
I just rebuilt this boat including stringers, engine mounts, transom, floor and would like it to run good. Thanks!
