Hello again everyone

Still working on the 1969 Mark Twain project boat (18' v sonic)... Got the engine rebuilt and running well enough (little rough, but good enough for shakedown rides), fixed the gel coat and weak floor and hull spot, and took her out for the maiden voyage and we started taking on water... I have it isolated to a hole in the through hull shift cable boot.

My understanding is I need to take the while outdrive off to fix this, is that 100% true?

If so, while its off I've also heard it only makes sense to do some other PM while it's off; exaust bellows, gimble bearing, ect.

The problem is I'm already over budget on the project, and want to know if I can do the shift boot without taking everything off, can I do it myself, and is it a bad idea to skip the PM on everything else.

As always, thanks in advance for any and all help
