All. I am installing all new bellows, shift cable etc. today and noticed my new water intake hose is kinking at the gimbal housing connection. I bought Goodyear 5/8" automotive heater hose thinking it would suffice. Is there a better spec for hose material?? Perhaps a good fuel hose or?? Drive is 1972 vintage. Serial number is 3392031.

Thanks

It uses a double wall hose designed not to kink at the proper length

I would just pick up the OEM hose, the hose will come the exact length you need for the fit, good catch there that's caused overheats for many.

I just buy the complete kit, comes with all the bellows, clamps, gimbal bearing and gaskets. The only extra thing to buy is a shift cable if needed.

I thought I bought the complete kit containing the hose, but that was not the case. Wanting to finish the job today, I found some 5/8" "Weatherhead" hydraulic hose which is flexible but tough as nails. The fiber reinforcement in this hose must be Kevlar or something similar given the difficulty cutting it with a new razor knife. My impression seeing it installed is that it will work well, but time will tell.

I have to hand it to all of you who replace the bellows on these machines. It is a job not for the faint of heart! :)

Onward and upward!:)
