I seem to need a new distributor for the old girl. I've found many automotive versions for the chevy 250 inline 6. Aside from the marine enhancements are they all interchangeable. Are the shaft and timing versatile enough .. Yes, I know some have vacuum assist but some have both or none. They range from the old original point to HEI, but seem to think they all might work..

do you need a new marine distributor, or do you simply need a new bushing in the distributor ($5 from napa)

Can't use an automotive distributor in a boat. Regardless of how close it looks. All you'll end up with is a blown up boat, if you're lucky...

What is wrong with the distributor? I had wire that lost much of its plastic coating and replaced the wire and cleaned up the distributor and all was well.
