Welcome aboard. Are you talking about the shift cable? (Down to the outdrive) Or control cable? (From the shift controller to the stern). Either one is available from just about anywhere you can buy parts. I would suggest buying the complete cable, not just the inner core wire. Not much more money and it is simply a better way to do it.
Thanks foks, i am talking about the control cable from the shift to stern, just like the picture Bt doctur posted( thanks btw ) the year on my 215e stern is about 1970 s/n 2782203-2909034 the engine is an ford 302 mercruiser 215E. The problem " Fishermark is I can't buy parts to this old lady " I was thinking to use an old speedometer cable from a car what do you people think about that ???
Hi everyone after a whole day in the workshop and one stubbern dad we finelly made one shift cable of our own , we used an old handbreak Cable for trucks. it works just fine. i tried the boat Yesterday with the new cable weeeee finelly the summer is saved. ( but to be save my dad is going to make 2 more for me. this time with a speedometer cable from old VW cars. if some one wants the blueprint. just text me. Thank you foks for all adwise
I have the same problem. I tried a choke cable. Used a screwdriver for the end. Some serious grinding. Seems little large. Would like schematic. Can you post it so future 215 e have access to it ? Also what year and make is the boat ?
