hey guys iv done some searching and i know this topic has been covered alot but i still cannot find the answer i am looking for. my boat is a 1985 with a mercruiser 140 3.0 l in it and i got my boat running while dribbling fuel into the carb but the fuel pump is not pumping. i tried to run it straight off of a outboard tank to rule out from the pump back but still no success. now my main question is on my engine the fuel pump is mounted with the fuel filter pointed up but all the fuel pumps i have found including off of the mercury parts catalog show the fuel filter pointing down. are these pumps interchangeable with my setup or will i have to replumb the lines from fuel pump to carb?
