Mercruiser 3.0 carb adjustments

Hello everyone. I don't know the numbers for my motor off the top of my head. But hopefully these questions are generic enough that I can get some input without the numbers.

I have a 3.0L mercruiser that I rebuilt in my 87 arrow glass boat. This year I rebuilt the carb, and added electronic ignition and new wires etc... The motor runs fantastic now. One thing I noticed when I had it out yesterday though. After running for a while, and I mean pulling someone on a tube, back and forth on the lake for a little while, it seems like I lose my holeshot, and it bogs and wants to die. I'm sure it's cause my carb isn't completely adjusted correctly. I have the 2bbl mercarb on there. Could anyone tell me how I can adjust this right on the water so that I can smooth it out while I'm on the lake?

the mixture screws only affect the idle, hole shots need a good squirt of fuel so maybe the accell pump is acting up and not supplying enough fuel

Well that is also something that's being affected after it's been ran a while. The idle also gets crappy. The acell pump I can adjust to give it a bigger squirt.

Ayuh,.... Check the filters for crud,... Check the fuel pump pressure,....

Any water in the gas,..??

Got a canister type filter, or just the fuel pump filter, 'n carb filter,..??

Just to make sure nothing else is going on, do a compression test and check the timing. Then move on to the fuel system.

I second the Accel pump theory. I had a similar problem with my '88 Stingray/Mercruiser 3.0L. When I was towing a tube for a while, and especially when the rider sank the nose of the tube causing it to simply drag in the water when you went hammer down (and thus the boat didn't move forward), I found that I would lose my hole shot; throttle would hesitate for a moment then slowly roll up to speed. I learned to not go skiing after I had been pulling a tube for a bit. Anyway, this year I mentioned it to my mechanic who suspected the accelerator pump. We replaced the pump and now I get a snappy hole shot every time I roll on throttle.
