the head gasket was blown on my 3.0 (1997) Mercruiser. Mechanic take the boat to the service. But he did not do the inspeciton before winter and left the water in the one cylinder. The water/corossion do the small scratch in the cylinder. You can see it on the picture here http://www.taox.cz/valec.jpg

Deep of the scratch is about 0,1mm and high is about 1cm. On the picture scratch looks worse than in the reality. Because in my country (Czech Republic) is summer in full season i put the new head gasket and rebulidet/retouched head on the engine and i must try "what the scratch will do in the operation" Does anybody has experience with somethink similar?? The engine may be +/- normal or the engine can explode , seize etc.. ?

Its going to wear out your piston rings in a hurry and cause more damage to the cylinder...

You will not cause any great damage to anything to try it. At worse you will have low compression on that cylinder. If you cannot bore it out and rebuild the lower end at this time, then put it together and try it. It may not run well... but then you will just be out a head gasket and some time.

If it is not to deep I might try removing the piston, run a set of honing balls up and down a couple of times then re ring it if the cylinder is still within spec.
