Mercruiser 3.0 head gasket question

Hi guys. I am in the process of replacing the head gasket on my '01 3.0. When I removed the bolts I noticed that the threads had some sort of sealant on them. Is this a specific type of sealant? My shop manual doesn't mention it. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Ayuh,.... Perfect Seal,... Form-a-gasket, #1, or #2... About anything But Sillycone....

Some of the headbolts go directly into the water jacket is the reasoning...
