Please help!
I have a 1991 Maxum 1800Sr , the crank is turning, plugs are sparking and the engine is trying to fire but does not. Is there a separate choke that I haven't seen?
Thanks a million.

Nope. No extra choke. Is it fuel injected or carb'd? Sounds like a fuel issue.

Carburetor. I removed the carb, checked its seating, cleaned some of the old gasket that had been left behind and refitted. When the throttle is pumped, gas jets down the carb body.

Things you need to have COMPRESSION SPARK FUEL. Do you have those things?

Compression, spark and fuel all seem present and correct. But wasn't run for 2 years prior to me buying it. It tries to fire every so often, but then doesn't seem to quite make it.

You have bad fuel I think. If the po was using ethonal it will need to be flushed and a carb rebuild. 2 year old ethel is not good.

Dumb ass of the year award goes to me. Put the throttle in neutral first. I did, and she started straight away!!!!
Now to adjust the idle speed so it hams nicely.

Thanks so much guys.

Hi everyone,
I have a Maxum 1800sr. I want to check that the engine should idle ok when the throttle is fully back, mine cuts out after running very lumpy for about 5 seconds. Is this correct?
Thanks

Haha! With global warming that could be soon enough!
How do I adjust the idle speed?
