I have a 2003 Mariah with a 3.0 Mercruiser and alpha drive. Only with the motor running, when you turn the steering all the way to the left it locks up. If you cut the motor off it will immediately release itself and steer fine. I have replaced the pump and the hydraulic steering cylinder. I don't see any other parts to replace, so what am I missing? The one thing i noticed is when you get about 2 inches from all the way left it will actually suck the steering the rest of the way to the left and lock it down, but like i said with the motor off you can turn it both ways freely. For the moment I installed a collar to keep it from hitting the point of no return, but obviously this is a patch and not a fix. Any help would be appreciated.
