Hey all, I have a 1985 mercruiser 3.0l 140 and over the winter I put a new impeller in and sealed up lower and put new oil in. I changed all the bellows as well. This past week I got the boat out to go through my spring checklist and while running it on the muffs I noticed it pouring water out of the exhaust port of the propeller. Like garden hose type pouring. Iv never noticed this before but then again I don't run it on muffs often and when I do I'm usually in the boat. Just so happen this time I stepped out of the boat to do a walk around while i let it run up to temp. Is this normal and iv never noticed it? or did I get something wrong while doing the impeller?

Sounds very normal to me. On the muffs you’ll notice water coming out the transom assembly and the prop (with exhaust).

I guess iv never noticed it pouring out of the prop like that before because I wasn't outside the boat while it was running on muffs. I know it has good flow as I forgot to tighten a clamp on the wp hose from where I winterized it. She sprayed pretty good lol. Thanks for the confirmation!

No worries. As long as it’s coming out the back somewhere…you’re all good !

you have to start the engine with a water muff on the lower drive water intake ..then when at idle the water flows very good out of the prop port exhaust .
if you do not run the motor out of the water with no water in the outdrive the Impeller will get damaged ?????
I remove my outdrive in the fall in my house !
