Hello,
Got a 3.0 Mercruiser that we are trying to get running and here is what we have done.
Checked spark- good
checked timing-good
checked compression- cylinders seemed dry so we squirted oil in each cylinder and compression is at roughly 100 on each cylinder
Did a blowdown test- seemed real good
Plugs are good
Cleaned carb and replaced with full kit
The issue we seem to be having: The #2 and #3 cylinders seem to be getting fuel but the #1 and #4 cylinder do not seem to be getting fuel. I can see oil sitting on top of the #1 cylinder (since we squirted it in cylinder) but it will not blow it out the plug hole when you crank it over with the plugs out. I can see the lifters moving on that cylinder so I know the cam is ok (somewhat) , Is it possible the intake valve is stuck closed?? Kind of a weird senario, thought I would post here and see if anyone has had a similar problem. I know these engines are weak at around 100 psi,but it should still run at that.
The other odd thing I noticed is that it looks like the #1 and #4 piston isnt coming fully to top dead center like #2 & #4, could it be a bad crank??
Any input is appreciated.
