Newly rebuilt fresh 3.0l merc, i had a noise i posted that was at high rpms sounded kinda clicking or ticking from rear of motor. at idle around 800 rpm or so i get a clicking or popping every so often when i listen near coupler. gimabal is new but i used old coupler and u joints, i greased joints they moved really free, i also have a good bit of boat vibration at low rpms starting off but it goes away by say 1500 rpms or so and is smooth. what are the signs of a bad coupler or u-joints im kinda hearing a knocking thud every so often at the coupler area while running at idle but it may not be anything. the clicking is raising heck at wot

removed my outdrive to eliminate possible noise from ujoints and gear case, still get a popping of clicking , tingling noise when i rev it hard, would the coupler make noise without a driveshaft in it also i rechecked my alignment and should the tool bottom out by hand or do you have to tap it in
