I just bought a 1989 Winner Intrigue 17' bowrider wit 3.0L Mercruiser/Alpha 1 and I'm having trouble getting the tilt/trim to work. When I bought it, we had to take apart the trim motor and clean corrosion from the armature and wiggle the brushes to get it to work. We also blew out the windings with compressed air. It worked fine up until I had to replace the control shifter lever. Now I can't find a digram with the same color wires as I have. The wires from the trim motor to the control box are (2) green, (1) purple and (1) red. The wires to the trim swithces (up/down and trailer up) on the control shifter lever are brown, purple and red.
My battery is charged b/c it will turn the motor over. The connections on the trim motor and battery are clean. I have tried connecting the wires from the trim motor to the trim switches adnd nothing seems to work. Can anyone tell me what wires go to what?
I haven't tried testing the trim motor or soleniods for continuity and honestly I don't have an ohmeter.
What are some things I need to be looking for after I get it wired correctly and it still doesn't work? Any help is greatly appreciated,
